Jordan’s Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, affirmed that the country leverages its peace agreement to protect its interests and support the Palestinian people.

 

Speaking during a meeting of the Arab and Islamic Ministerial Committee tasked with international efforts to halt the aggression on Gaza on Wednesday, Safadi emphasized, “We do not believe that canceling the peace agreement will benefit either Palestine or Jordan.”

 

Safadi explained that the meeting aimed to coordinate and agree on unified messages to be conveyed to the international community. He added that the committee emphasized the need to end the Israeli Occupation’s aggression against Gaza and the West Bank and to protect Islamic holy sites, while also stressing the importance of preventing the aggression from escalating further across the region.

 

He mentioned that several meetings would be held at the United Nations General Assembly to discuss the Palestinian cause, reiterating the commitment of Arab states to the establishment of a Palestinian state.

 

Safadi warned that the ongoing escalation by the Israeli occupation poses a threat to the stability of the entire region. He stated that Israel’s actions violate international law and are pushing the region toward chaos, in defiance of rulings by the International Court of Justice. He assured that Arab efforts to stop the aggression continue.

 

Safadi also noted that all options to halt the aggression on Gaza are under consideration, as Israeli Occupation even challenges its own allies.

 

The foreign minister called for sanctions against Israeli Occupation, affirming that every effort will be made to achieve peace and establish a Palestinian state.

 

He condemned Tuesday’s attack in Lebanon and pointed out that Jordan is communicating with the international community without engaging in direct talks with Hamas or Israeli Occupation.

 

Safadi concluded by stating that the peace agreement between Jordan and Israeli Occupation has become an ineffective document, collecting dust in light of the current situation. He stressed that the region is experiencing one of its worst periods, with little hope for peace, and reiterated that the Palestinian cause remains Jordan’s top priority.

 

“We always sound the alarm about what is happening in the West Bank,” Safadi added.
