The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi received a phone call from the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs, Caspar Veldkamp.

Veldkamp affirmed that his country places great importance on its friendly relations with Jordan and that the Dutch government is keen on developing these relations in various fields, appreciating Jordan's role in the region.

He distanced his government from the statements made by a Dutch MP that insulted Jordan and Palestine, emphasizing that these do not represent the positions of the Dutch government, which respects Jordan and its role, and supports the two-state solution as a path to achieving peace in the region.

Safadi, for his part, confirmed that Jordan shares the Dutch government’s eagerness to develop friendly relations between the two countries, expressing his gratitude for the call that conveyed the clear position of the Netherlands in rejecting the statements of the Dutch MP.

Safadi shared his appreciation for the Netherlands' stance supporting the two-state solution and the Palestinian people's right to their independent state per international law.

The two ministers agreed to continue working to enhance cooperation in various fields and efforts to reach an immediate and lasting ceasefire, end the humanitarian disaster caused by the Israeli Occupation aggression on Gaza, and continue cooperation in delivering humanitarian aid across the sector.

Veldkamp reiterated the Netherlands' support for the two-state solution in a radio interview on Friday, stating that Palestine is an independent state, separate from “Israel” and that the State of Palestine will not be at Jordan's expense.

He said, "The relationship between Jordan and the Netherlands is very important, and this is what I am trying to enhance and to work on building strong relations with Jordan."

Safadi concluded by stating that Jordan does not pay attention to worthless statements from extremist racist individuals.
