Mohammad Al-Jarrah, a member of the Jordanian House of Representatives, has been expelled from his party due to “multiple disciplinary violations” – according to Secretary-General of the Labor Party, Rula Hroub.
In a statement to Roya, Hroub said that the party’s political bureau had previously issued several warnings to Al-Jarrah for “misconduct”
Investigations
Hroub said that on October 29, the party formed an investigative committee to address complaints from members and citizens regarding Al-Jarrah's behavior.
The party heard Al-Jarrah’s testimony in the presence of his personal lawyer, in addition to statements from witnesses, Hroub added.
The investigation committee recommended expelling Al-Jarrah, citing violations of Articles 3, 5, and 7 of Chapter Five of the party's bylaws.
Hroub noted that the political bureau unanimously approved the expulsion decision in the presence of central council members.
Right to appeal
Hroub clarified that Al-Jarrah was officially informed of the decision on Tuesday. He has one week to file a written appeal to the Labor Party’s judicial committee, as stipulated in the party's regulations.
If the judicial committee upholds the decision, it will become final and binding. In that case, Al-Jarrah may file an appeal with the Administrative Court.
Hroub stated that if the Administrative Court confirms the decision, it will be enforced, and the party will then recommend to the Independent Election Commission (IEC) to replace Al-Jarrah with the next candidate on the party’s list.
