AMMAN — Prime Minister Omar Razzaz on Wednesday commended the Kingdom’s “close relations” with Germany, and praised Germany’s support to Jordan, as Berlin is the second-biggest donor to the Kingdom after the US.

In a meeting the German State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office Andreas Michaelis, Razzaz expressed Jordan’s aspiration to continue cooperation and coordination with Germany in facing economic challenges, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The premier acquainted Michaelis with the government’s plans to face economic hardships.

He stressed that the government will focus its efforts on improving economic growth, attracting investments, lowering the debt and stimulating the private sector, which also constitute the main focus of the coming London conference.

For his part, Michaelis praised the strategic partnership between Germany and Jordan, highlighting the importance of sustaining the international community’s support to the Kingdom.

Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi also met with Michaelis on Wednesday and the two discussed regional developments as well as ways to enhance bilateral relations, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

During the meeting, Safadi stressed the need to launch international efforts to break the stalemate in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and resolve the issue based on the two-state solution, which guarantees the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people in freedom and in establishing their state, according to international laws.

Safadi also brought up the need for a political solution to the Syrian crisis, in a way that preserves the unity, stability and security of Syria, helps refugees return to their homeland and improves regional stability.
