AMMAN — The MR-Vac dual vaccine used in the national immunisation campaign is safe and effective since it has a long record of safety and effectiveness across the world, Rasheed Ibdah, head of the scientific committee at the Jordanian Medical Association (JMA), said on Wednesday.

 

Emphasising the importance of the vaccination campaign to boost immunity against measles and rubella, which is being carried out by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with international agencies, Ibdah said that the campaign is considered essential at the global level to address the immunity gaps that have emerged among children due to reduced vaccination coverage during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra. 

 

He highlighted that new cases of these diseases have emerged in both children and adults.

 

The safety and efficacy of the MR-Vac dual vaccine has been supported by extensive scientific research and it has been endorsed by global health entities, including the World Health Organization, he said.
