AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi held a phone call on Tuesday with Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation José Manuel Albares.

The two ministers discussed ongoing efforts to reach a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid into the besieged Strip, according to a foreign ministry statement.

Both ministers also expressed support for mediation efforts led by Egypt, Qatar, and the US to broker a ceasefire, emphasising the urgent need to stop the war, end the humanitarian catastrophe and open all crossings for immediate aid delivery.

Safadi and Albares also reiterated the strong partnership between Jordan and Spain, expressing a shared commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation across various sectors.

Safadi also received a phone call on Tuesday from Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.

The two ministers discussed various bilateral issues and affirmed their mutual commitment to enhancing cooperation across different sectors.

The two ministers also reviewed efforts to achieve an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza, underscoring the importance of coordinated international action to alleviate the humanitarian crisis and expedite the delivery of essential aid.

The discussion also touched on the escalating situation in the West Bank. Safadi called for an end to all Israeli illegal measures that undermine the prospects for a two-state solution and intensify regional tensions.

He also stressed the need for international efforts to compel Israel to respect the historical and legal status quo at Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

Both ministers highlighted the urgency of launching a credible political process aimed at implementing the two-state solution and achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
