AMMAN — The Jordanian Armed Forces–Arab Army (JAF) said it had intercepted and neutralised 95 aerial threats launched from Iran over a 16-day period, preventing civilian casualties and protecting vital infrastructure across the Kingdom.

 

According to a JAF statement on Tuesday, the threats were intercepted between July 9 and July 25 by the Kingdom’s air defence systems and the Royal Jordanian Air Force.

 

The operations resulted in the downing of 70 ballistic missiles and 25 explosive-laden drones that entered Jordanian airspace, according to the statement.

 

JAF said that all intercepted targets were neutralised over unpopulated areas, allowing daily life across Jordan to continue without disruption.

 

The most intensive interception operations took place on July 24, when air defences brought down seven missiles and six drones. On July 23, forces intercepted four missiles and six drones, while six missiles were neutralized on July 22, the statement said.

 

Other major operations included the interception of 10 missiles and four drones on July 18, as well as eight missiles on July 9, the statement said.

 

In addition to air defence operations, Border Guard units thwarted 11 infiltration and smuggling attempts along Jordan’s northern, eastern, and southern borders. The units intercepted three remotely guided balloons and three drones carrying narcotics, confiscating their shipments.

 

Border patrols also arrested five individuals attempting illegal crossings, according to the statement.
