AMMAN — The Foreign Ministry on Monday condemned the ongoing violations and incursions by Israeli extremist settlers at Al Aqsa Mosque / Al Haram Al Sharif, including "provocative" practices inside the holy site, including blowing the horn, carried out under the protection of Israeli occupation police.

In a statement, the ministry said such actions constitute a "flagrant breach" of the historical and legal status quo at the holy site, a desecration of its sanctity and an unacceptable provocation.

Ministry spokesperson Sufian Qudah warned of the consequences of continued violations, stressing that their systematic nature, facilitated and carried out by Israeli authorities in Jerusalem, reflects the reckless policies of the extremist Israeli government that endanger regional security and stability.

Qudah said the repeated violations of international law, international humanitarian law, and the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its holy sites.

Israel has no sovereignty over Al Aqsa Mosque / Al Haram Al Sharif, he said, reiterating Jordan’s rejection and condemnation of repeated incursions by extremist settlers and Israeli officials.

He added that such actions are flagrant violations of international law and deliberate attempts to impose new realities on Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem.

Qudah also reiterated that the entire 144-dunum Al Aqsa Mosque is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims, and that the Jerusalem Awqaf Department, affiliated to the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, is the sole legal authority responsible for managing the site and regulating access.
