AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Omani Foreign Minister Badr Bin Hamad Al Busaidi on Sunday held extensive talks in Muscat, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and reviewing regional developments.

The two ministers discussed expanding cooperation between Jordan and Oman across several key sectors, including investment, trade, tourism, education and mining, according to a ministry statement.

They also reviewed preparations for the 12th session of the Jordan-Oman Joint Committee, which Muscat would host, including agreements and memoranda of understanding being prepared for signing to further institutionalise and enhance economic cooperation.

Safadi and Al Busaidi reiterated the two countries’ shared commitment to deepening the longstanding relations, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah and Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq.

Safadi extended Jordan’s congratulations to Oman on the occasion of its National Day, celebrated on November 20, wishing the Sultanate continued progress and prosperity under the leadership of Sultan Haitham.

He also commended Oman’s important role in promoting Arab cooperation and supporting regional security and stability.

The ministers stressed the urgent need to maintain the ceasefire in Gaza, ensure the immediate and adequate delivery of humanitarian aid, support reconstruction efforts, prevent displacement, and launch a credible political process to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.

They also discussed the escalating situation in the occupied West Bank, underscoring the need to stop all illegal Israeli measures that entrench the occupation and undermine prospects for peace.

The two ministers also agreed to maintain coordination on bilateral ties and issues of mutual concern.

Safadi arrived in Oman earlier on Sunday for a working visit during which he will participate in the Muscat Mediation Retreat.
