JPA condemns terrorist attack targeting PSD personnel

The Jordan Times

AMMAN — The Jordan Press Association (JPA) Board on Thursday condemned a terrorist attack in Amman that killed Corporal Jawad Ali Khalaf Salayteh while performing his duties and injured another Public Security Directorate (PSD) officer.

In a statement, the JPA described the attack as a crime targeting the Kingdom’s security and stability and the safety of its citizens.

The board said that targeting PSD personnel while carrying out their duties constituted an attack on national security and an attempt to undermine Jordan’s stability, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

It stressed that such acts would not weaken the resolve of Jordanians or their unity and support for state institutions and security agencies.

The association commended security personnel for their role in maintaining security and protecting citizens. It also commended the PSD’s response to the incident and the arrest of the suspect.

The JPA called on media outlets and social media users to exercise professional and ethical responsibility by verifying information and ensuring its accuracy before publication.

It also urged media outlets and social media users to refrain from publishing or circulating graphic images and videos that could undermine the dignity of the deceased officer or the injured officer, out of respect for their families, relatives and colleagues and in line with journalistic ethics.

The association extended its condolences to the PSD and the deceased officer’s family, relatives and colleagues, and wished the injured officer a speedy recovery.

The board reaffirmed that Jordan would remain resilient in confronting terrorism, adding that safeguarding national security and stability was a collective responsibility.
