Trump says Gaza deal “could be biggest thing” he was involved in: Axios

US President Trump, speaking to Axios from Air Force One en route to ‘Israel’, has declared that the recently brokered peace deal in Gaza "could be the biggest thing I was ever involved in."

The statement comes as ‘Israel’ prepares for the imminent release of the final 20 living captives held by Hamas, a key component of the new accord.

A Message of "Love and Peace"
Trump is scheduled to address ‘Israel's’ parliament, the Knesset, on Monday morning.

When asked about the message he intends to deliver, he responded: "Love and peace for eternity."

During his brief visit, he will also meet with families of the captives and hold discussions with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Trump expressed enthusiasm about a rally held in Tel Aviv on Saturday in support of the captives, which featured his daughter Ivanka Trump, son-in-law Jared Kushner, and envoy Steve Witkoff as speakers.

"It was an incredible rally. It was a great thing," he told Axios, adding that "everybody is thrilled." The event drew attention online after the crowd reportedly cheered at the mention of Trump's name but booed when Witkoff referred to Netanyahu.

Ahead of the international conference in support of the peace deal, which is set to take place in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt on Monday, Trump noted that he was unaware of the reason for Prime Minister Netanyahu's expected absence from the conference, but expressed that it was a positive sign that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas would be attending.

In a striking claim, Trump linked the Gaza deal's success to his administration's decision to order an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities in June.

He claimed that a weakened Iran made Hamas more willing to compromise and that the military action, which he described as lifting a "black cloud" over Iran's nuclear program, allowed Arab and Muslim nations to unite in support of the peace negotiations.
