Hamas insists seven senior Palestinian leaders be included in the exchange, sources say.
‘Israel’ previousy marked red lines to release high-profile figures like Marwan Barghouti and Ahmad Sa’adat.
Hamas has insisted that seven senior Palestinian political leaders be included in the ongoing prisoner exchange deal, according to sources close to the negotiations, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported.

"Hamas insists that the final list include seven senior leaders, most notably Marwan Barghouti, Ahmad Saadat, Ibrahim Hamed, and Abbas Al-Sayyed," a source said.

One of the sources also said that Hamas and its allied groups had "completed all preparations" for handing over all the living captives to 'Israel,' including some of the deceased ones.

However, ‘Israel’ had previously said it would exclude such figures from any release, highlighting examples like Fatah leader Marwan Barghouti and Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) Secretary-General Ahmad Sa’adat.

The exclusion of these high-profile detainees reveals the “red lines” imposed by ‘Israel’ during the negotiations and highlights that the issue of senior political prisoners remains one of the most sensitive and complex files in any settlement.
