Netanyahu cancels Gaza summit visit, citing a holiday conflict despite prior Egyptian confirmation.
US President Donald Trump was met with sustained applause during his address at the ‘Israeli’ Knesset on Monday

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received applause primarily from coalition members, while several opposition lawmakers remained seated, underscoring political divisions within the parliament.

In his speech, Trump addressed key issues in the region, with Netanyahu praising him as “the greatest friend Israel has ever had in the White House.”

“Thank you, President Trump for recognizing our right over Judea and Samaria, thank you for the proposal that ends the war and achieves all our goals,” Netanyahu added.

Additionally, Netanyahu claimed victory over the “Iranian axis of evil,” specifically naming Hamas and Hezbollah leaders, and declaring, “They are all gone.”

The Prime Minister thanked Trump for launching Operation Midnight Hammer, which he described as “the most fitting name ever, because after midnight, you  [Trump] really hammered them.”

“You will be etched in the history of our people; you’ve already been etched in the history of humanity,” he added, addressing Trump and the Knesset attendees.

The remarks came amid ongoing discussions about regional peace initiatives and diplomatic engagement in Gaza and surrounding areas.

On another note, Netanyahu canceled his planned visit to the Gaza peace summit in Egypt, citing a scheduling conflict with the start of the Jewish holiday Simhat Torah.

He canceled the visit despite prior confirmation from the Egyptian Presidency after a Trump-brokered call with President Abdel Fatah El-Sissi.
