AMMAN (JT) — Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti on Monday met with Turkish Chief of General Staff Metin Gurak in Ankara.
During the meeting, Huneiti and Gurak discussed means of enhancing bilateral relations between the Jordanian and Turkish armies and exchanging expertise in light of the shared security concerns, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Huneiti highlighted the importance of the Turkish role in realising security and stability in the region, the strategic partnership between both countries and opening new horizons for military and security cooperation.
Also on Monday, the army chief met with Turkish Defence Minister Yasar Guler, Petra reported.
The Turkish minister underscored the 'deep-rooted' ties between the two countries and their keenness on bolstering military and security cooperation.
Guler expressed appreciation for Jordan’s pivotal role under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah in promoting regional security and stability.
Jordan's Military Attaché in Turkey and several Jordanian senior officers attended the meeting.
Upon his arrival, Huneiti attended a reception ceremony with Honour Guards in salute.
