The Jordan Times

AMMAN — Lower House Speaker Ibrahim Tarawneh on Thursday condemned a terrorist attack targeting Public Security Directorate (PSD) personnel in Amman, saying such acts would only strengthen Jordan’s unity and resolve.

In a statement issued on behalf of the Lower House, Tarawneh stressed that national security is a red line and that criminal acts will not undermine the determination of the Jordanians.

He paid tribute to the PSD officer killed in the attack Corporal Jawad Ali Khalaf Salayteh, praising the sacrifices of military and security personnel in protecting the Kingdom and maintaining its stability.

Tarawneh extended his condolences to the officer’s family and colleagues and wished the injured officer a speedy recovery.

He reaffirmed Parliament’s support for the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) and security agencies in confronting terrorism, pursuing those responsible and protecting national security.

Tarawneh also stressed that terrorism has no religion, saying that attacks on places of worship and innocent people target Muslims and Christians alike. He added that Jordanian national unity remains a strong barrier against attempts to sow discord.
