AMMAN — The Eastern Military Region on Friday thwarted an attempt to smuggle a “large” quantity of narcotics into Jordan using electronically guided balloons.

 

In a statement, the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) said that Border Guard units detected the balloons and brought them down, along with their payloads inside Jordanian territory in coordination with security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department.

 

The seized materials were handed over to the relevant authorities for further legal procedures, the statement said.
