AMMAN — Prime Minister Jafar Hassan on Sunday met with Speaker of the Arab Parliament Mohammed Al Yamahi and an accompanying delegation of Arab lawmakers to discuss regional developments and the need for unified Arab positions on key issues.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Hassan highlighted the Arab Parliament’s vital role in consolidating Arab efforts and rallying international support for pressing regional causes, foremost among them the Palestinian cause, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He stressed the urgent need to end the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza and to ensure the immediate and uninterrupted flow of humanitarian aid to alleviate the deepening humanitarian crisis in the Strip.
The discussion also addressed the escalation in the West Bank, where the Prime Minister reaffirmed Jordan’s firm stance on the importance of protecting Palestinians, halting Israeli violations, and safeguarding their presence on their land.
Speaker Yamahi commended Jordan’s continued support for Arab causes, led by His Majesty King Abdullah, and its diplomatic efforts in defending the rights of the Palestinian people in international forums. He also commended Jordan’s role in delivering humanitarian aid into Gaza.
Also on Sunday, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi met Al Yamahi, with discussions focused on ways to enhance joint Arab action and review regional developments, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
During the meeting, Safadi and Yamahi emphasised the importance of activating and deepening Arab cooperation and coordination to confront shared challenges, advance common interests, and promote regional security, stability, and sustainable development that meets the aspirations of Arab peoples.
Safadi reiterated Jordan’s full support for the Arab Parliament and its growing role in defending Arab causes, particularly commending its firm and consistent positions in support of the Palestinian cause.
He also stressed the urgent need to end the Israeli aggression on Gaza and the resulting humanitarian catastrophe, calling for a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire through ongoing Egyptian, Qatari, and US mediation efforts.
Safadi also warned against Israel’s ongoing illegal and unilateral actions in the occupied West Bank, stressing that such measures undermine the two-state solution and all prospects for achieving a just and lasting peace.
On Syria, Safadi underlined the importance of supporting the Syrian government’s efforts to rebuild the country based on principles that preserve its unity, sovereignty, and stability, safeguard the rights of its people, and restore Syria’s vital role in joint Arab action.
Both officials also reiterated the need for a united Arab approach to resolving the region’s crises and enhancing cooperation across all fields.
For his part, Yamahi commended Jordan’s pivotal regional role and the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah in promoting Arab solidarity and defending Arab interests on the international stage.
