AMMAN — France will remain at Jordan’s side in facing regional and international challenges, outgoing French Ambassador to Jordan Alexis Le Cour Grandmaison said in a farewell message.
In a video recorded with his wife at Amman’s Roman Amphitheatre, he highlighted Jordan’s role as “a country of security, openness, dialogue, heritage and modernisation”.
He described the setting as a “symbol of authenticity and the meeting of civilisation.”
The diplomat noted that over the past three years, Jordanian-French relations have advanced across multiple fields, stressing Paris’ commitment to working “hand in hand” with Amman to reinforce regional stability.
The ambassador stressed France’s support for the two-state solution, recalling President Emmanuel Macron’s recent remarks that recognising a Palestinian state is the only path to lasting peace.
He said that France intends to work with as many European and international partners as possible in September to move forwards with formal recognition of a Palestinian state.
Expressing gratitude for Jordanian hospitality, the ambassador said: ‘We leave with many wonderful memories from the land of the Nashama,’ adding that he and his wife look forward to returning in the future.
