AMMAN — Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Nancy Namrouqa on Monday headed Jordan’s delegation at the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah, which discussed the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

During the meeting, Namrouqa delivered Jordan’s statement, reiterating the Kingdom’s continued humanitarian efforts under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah to alleviate suffering in Gaza through all available means, including aid convoys and air drops.

She also reiterated Jordan’s readiness to dispatch hundreds of aid trucks daily once Israeli restrictions preventing access were lifted, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

Namrouqa stressed the Kingdom’s firm position on the need to stop Israeli attacks on Gaza, the importance of reaching an exchange agreement leading to a lasting ceasefire, and Jordan’s support for Qatari, Egyptian, and US efforts in this regard. She also highlighted the urgency of ending the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, ensuring aid reaches all areas of the Strip promptly, sufficiently, and regularly.

“The occupied West Bank is witnessing a dangerous escalation and a second war, as Israel continues its military operations against Palestinians, demolishes their homes and facilities, seizes their lands, and displaces them,” Namrouqa said.

She reiterated Jordan’s condemnation of "provocative and escalatory" remarks by the Israeli prime minister regarding the so-called “greater Israel,” describing it as a threat to state sovereignty and a violation of international law and the UN Charter.

She also reiterated Jordan’s rejection and condemnation of the Israeli settlement plan in the “E1” area, calling it a blatant violation of international law, UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2334, and the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice.

Namrouqa also condemned Israel’s continued violations of the legal and historical status of Al Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al Sharif, stressing that the entire 144-dunum area is exclusively a place of Muslim worship. She emphasised that the entire 144-dunum Al Aqsa Mosque is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims, and that the Jerusalem Awqaf Department, affiliated to the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, is the sole legal authority responsible for managing the site and regulating access.

She reaffirmed that the Hashemite custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem is a trust Jordan fulfils with all its capacities. The Kingdom would continue to preserve the historical and legal status of these sacred sites and ensure that Israel, as the occupying power, respects its obligations under international law, she added.

Namrouqa also called on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities, hold Israel accountable for stopping its aggression against Gaza and escalation in the occupied West Bank, and provide necessary protection for the Palestinian people.
