AMMAN — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned Israel for continuing to impose restrictions on the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, warning that the blockade has led to severe famine conditions.
In a statement on Friday, the ministry cited a recent report by the United Nations' Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), which raised Gaza’s food insecurity level to Phase 5, the most critical stage, indicating the presence of famine.
The ministry spokesperson Sufyan Qudah described the report as a “serious indicator” of the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
He accused the Israeli government of “employing systematic and inhumane policies”, saying starvation has been used as a weapon against the Palestinian population.
Qudah urged the international community to act immediately and without delay to compel Israel to halt its military operations in Gaza. He also called for the urgent, sustained delivery of humanitarian aid to prevent further deterioration of the situation.
