AMMAN — The general index of industrial production quantities in the first half of 2025 reached 87.77 points compared with 86.21 points for the same period last year, marking an increase of 1.80 per cent, the Department of Statistics (DoS) said on Tuesday.
When comparing the cumulative index for the first half of the current year with the same period in 2024, the production quantities of the manufacturing sector increased by 1.92 per cent, and electricity production quantities increased by 3.04 per cent, according to public service TV Al Mamlaka.
DoS, in its monthly report, noted that production quantities of the mining and quarrying sector decreased by 2.47 per cent.
The index for June reached 90.07 points compared with 89.69 points for the same month last year, registering an increase of 0.43 per cent.
On a monthly change basis, the index for June increased compared to the same month in 2024 as a result of a 0.97 per cent increase in the manufacturing sector’s production quantities, and a 2.68 per cent increase in the mining and quarrying sector’s production quantities.
The electricity sector’s production quantities decreased by 9.30 per cent, DoS noted.
The index for June recorded 90.07 points compared with 88.04 points in May of the same year, increasing by 2.31 per cent.
At the sectoral level, and when comparing June’s index with that of May of 2025, the production quantities of the manufacturing sector increased by 2.16 per cent, the mining and quarrying sector’s production quantities rose by 0.58 per cent, and the electricity sector’s production quantities went up by 6.14 per cent.
