JHCO says 24 aid trucks dispatched to war-torn Gaza

The Jordan Times

AMMAN — The Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) said on Thursday that it has dispatched a new aid convoy of 24 trucks to besieged Gaza.

The organisation said in a statement on Thursday that the total number of trucks sent to Gaza has reached 8,480 trucks since the start of the war [on October 7, 2023].

The initiative is part of the wider Jordanian aid campaign to Gaza, which reflects the Kingdom’s sustained humanitarian and medical support to the war-torn enclave, coordinated through JHCO.

In addition to humanitarian efforts on the ground, Jordan has conducted airdrop operations of aid over Gaza, in cooperation with international partners.

The Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) said it has carried out 164 airdrops alone since the resumption of operations on July 27, besides another 400 joint missions conducted in cooperation with international partners.

The Royal Jordanian Air Force has so far delivered nearly 801 tonnes of humanitarian aid and essential supplies into Gaza via airdrops, JAF said.

Jordan also runs two filed hospitals in Gaza: one in the Strip’s north, which was established in 2009, and another in Khan Younis in the south.

The field hospital in Khan Yunis, operational since November 20, 2023, has treated more than 628,421 patients to date and is staffed by specialists across various medical disciplines, JAF said.
