AMMAN — Preparatory meetings at the senior officials’ level for the 33rd session of the Jordanian-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee commenced in Amman on Sunday, focusing on enhancing bilateral relations and expanding cooperation.

The Jordanian delegation was led by Secretary-General of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply Dana Zoubi, while the Egyptian side was headed by Assistant Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Tarek Shaarawi. Representatives from all relevant ministries and institutions from both countries took part in the sessions, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The committee held intensive sectoral discussions covering political, economic and development cooperation, with the aim of finalising agreements to be signed at the conclusion of the Higher Committee’s work.

The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply stressed the significance of the committee’s meetings, describing them as the most frequently convened at the Arab level and among the most closely monitored for implementation of agreed outcomes.

The two-day preparatory meetings would set the stage for the Higher Committee’s plenary session, scheduled for Tuesday, to be co-chaired by Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan and his Egyptian counterpart.
