Israeli occupation forces shelled the outskirts of the town of Abidin in the Yarmouk Basin area of western Daraa countryside in southern Syria with two artillery rounds on Wednesday evening, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA). No casualties or material damage were immediately reported.
On Sunday, Israeli forces had also made incursions into areas in the countryside of Quneitra and Daraa, carrying out land-clearing operations on agricultural land and setting up a checkpoint in the Al-Aqrabiya area between Abidin village and the town of Jamlah, restricting residents’ movement.
Israeli forces have continued their incursions into southern Syria, in violation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement. The operations have also included raids on civilian homes and arrests, land-clearing activities, and artillery attacks.
Syria has called for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from its territory and reaffirmed that the measures taken by Israel are invalid under international law. Damascus has urged the international community to fulfill its responsibilities, put an end to the violations, and compel Israel to comply with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
