Ajloun residents call for solution to ‘begging issue’

The Jordan Times

AMMAN — A number of residents of Ajloun, 70km northwest of Amman, called on the social development directorate and other agencies to find a solution regarding the “increasing” numbers of beggars in the city.

The fasting month of Ramadan has witnessed a hike in the number of beggars at marketplaces and in front of mosques and banks. The beggars see Ramadan as an opportunity to receive more money as people tend to be more prone to donating during the month, resident Nabil Smadi told the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
