Saudi king due in Amman today

DEAD SEA/AMMAN — A Jordanian-Saudi summit is scheduled to take place two days ahead of the Arab summit in a bid to strengthen the two countries' cooperation and coordination efforts, according to a top official. 
 
On the sidelines of the preparatory meeting of the Arab summit, Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi highlighted the "very strong" and strategic relationship between Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
 
Jordanian-Saudi ties are as strong as ever, founded on mutual understanding of issues facing the region, he reiterated.
 
 "We hope that Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz's visit to Jordan would contribute to fostering bilateral ties and opening new horizons of political and economic cooperation," Safadi told reporters. 
 
The Saudi king is expected to arrive in Amman today. 
 
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Media Affairs and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani cited several "significant" agreements to be signed by the two countries in their summit, which he said will provide Jordan and Saudi Arabia with a venue to coordinate their stances vis-à-vis Arab issues. 
 
A huge media delegation is accompanying the Saudi king in his visit.
 
The Saudi journalists met Sunday with their Jordanian peers to discuss the visit and expected outcome at the Jordan Press Association (JPA).
 
Welcoming the Saudi media delegation, JPA President Tareq Momani emphasised the “distinguished ties between the two countries at various levels
