His Majesty King Abdullah II held separate meetings in Brussels on Wednesday with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, and European Council President Antonio Costa.
During the meetings, attended by HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein, the strength of the partnership between Jordan and the European Union was affirmed, along with a commitment to enhancing cooperation between the two sides.
The King appreciated the EU's support for the Kingdom in implementing various projects in vital sectors.
The discussions addressed regional developments, with His Majesty emphasizing the need to establish and sustain a ceasefire in Gaza to enhance security and stability in the region, highlighting the EU's important role in advancing peace efforts.
He stressed the importance of increasing humanitarian aid to Gaza and reiterated Jordan's commitment to providing relief efforts through all possible means.
His Majesty warned of the dangers of escalation in the West Bank and the violations faced by Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
The King reaffirmed Jordan's firm stance on the necessity of ensuring Palestinians remain on their land and achieve their legitimate rights, in accordance with the two-state solution.
Regarding Syria, His Majesty reiterated Jordan's support for the country's unity, security, and stability.
EU officials acknowledged Jordan as an important partner and expressed appreciation for the Kingdom's pivotal role in striving for peace and stability in the region. They also confirmed the EU's continued support for Jordan in several vital sectors.
The King received an invitation from the President of the European Parliament to deliver a speech before the European Parliament.
The meetings were attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan, Director of the King's Office Eng. Alaa Al-Bataina, and the Jordanian Ambassador to Belgium Yusuf Al-Bataina.
