US President Donald Trump announced on Monday his intention to halt funding to South Africa.
Trump wrote on Truth Social, "South Africa is confiscating land, and treating certain classes of people VERY BADLY," according to his statement.
Earlier, Trump said he plans to impose tariffs on the EU in the future, noting that he is also preparing to take similar measures against China, Mexico, and Canada.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said, "Am I going to impose tariffs on the European Union? Do you want the truthful answer or should I give you a political answer? Absolutely, absolutely," adding that the EU has treated the United States "very terribly."
This statement comes as Trump intensifies trade pressure on the US's trading partners, preparing to impose new tariffs as part of his strategy to protect the American economy and boost domestic industry.
