Qatar's government confirmed on Tuesday that Hamas leaders involved in ceasefire negotiations between Gaza and "Israel" are not in Doha at the moment, denying reports suggesting that the Hamas office in the country had been shut down, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported.
In a press briefing, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari clarified, "The Hamas leaders who are part of the negotiation team are not in Doha right now. As you know, they frequently travel between various capitals."
He further explained, "When there is no ongoing mediation, the office no longer serves its function."
Ansari also emphasized that if any decision were made to close the Hamas office, it would be officially announced by the Qatari government.
