Lebanon’s Hezbollah said it fired "100 Katyusha rockets" at two “Israeli” positions on Wednesday after an “Israeli” strike in south Lebanon killed a senior commander from the group.

"As part of the response to the attack and assassination that the enemy carried out" in the southern coastal city of Tyre, Hezbollah fighters attacked two “Israeli” positions in the annexed Golan Heights "with 100 Katyusha rockets", a statement from the group said.

Earlier today, Hezbollah announced that a senior commander was killed Wednesday in an “Israeli” strike on a vehicle in south Lebanon.

"A Hezbollah commander responsible for one of three sectors in south Lebanon was killed" in an "Israeli strike on a car in Tyre", a source told Agence France-Presse (AFP), requesting anonymity as they were not authorized to speak to the media.

The commander killed was Mohamed Naim Nasser, 59 years old, the head of Hezbollah's Aziz unit, one of three regional divisions in south Lebanon.

The unit is responsible for the eastern district on the border between Lebanon and “Israel”.
