US President Joe Biden revealed in an interview with MSNBC that he has not spoken recently with President-elect Donald Trump about the ongoing Gaza negotiations, though they did discuss the matter following Trump’s election victory.
Biden emphasized that the idea of 'Israel' sustaining itself without addressing the Palestinian issue is "impossible," stressing the need for a resolution that considers the legitimate concerns of Palestinians.
The president urged 'Israeli' Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to take these concerns seriously, emphasizing the importance of achieving a balance that promotes regional stability.
First Call for Ceasefire
Biden disclosed that he had, for the first time, called on Netanyahu to halt military operations in Gaza after what he described as excessive destruction of hospitals and an escalation of military activities in the Philadelphi Corridor.
He also highlighted the challenges posed by Netanyahu’s coalition government, calling it "the most extreme government in the history of any Israeli prime minister."
Hamas Tunnels in Gaza
Biden said that Hamas has an extensive tunnel network in Gaza, describing their scale and depth as remarkable, with some reaching 20 feet underground. He noted that the world was largely unaware of these tunnels until recently.
The US president reiterated the necessity of balancing 'Israel’s' security needs with addressing Palestinian rights to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region.
