Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on Monday that he will step down once the Liberal Party selects a new leader.

 

Speaking to reporters in Ottawa, Trudeau, who has held office since 2015, stated, "I intend to resign as party leader, as prime minister," following a prolonged political crisis that led key Liberal allies to call for his departure.
