AMMAN — The Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation on Thursday launched the Zain Customer Service Call Centre in Maan, funded by the ministry’s economic and social productivity enhancing programme.

During the opening ceremony, Planning and International Cooperation Minister Wissam Rabadi said that the project, which focuses on supporting the local community, provides 13 new jobs for women in Maan Governorate, 220km south of Amman, in line with the public-private partnership aimed at increasing recruitment, reducing unemployment and poverty among young people across the Kingdom, according to a ministry statement.

The ministry's funding of Zain call centre project for customer services in Maan, Deir Alla, Jerash and Ajloun came in implementation of the Royal directives to improve citizens’ standard of living through the establishment of various productive and investment projects, Rabadi said.

He also added that the project will provide 52 new jobs, stressing the ministry’s ongoing cooperation with private sectors institutions to support the governorates’ residents.

In 2018, a five-side agreement was signed between the Planning Ministry’s economic and social productivity enhancing programme, the Ministry of Labour, Zain Jordan and the Vocational and Technical Skills Development Commission.

The newly opened centre in Maan is the second of four centres to be established under the agreement between Zain and the government, as the first centre was opened in Deir Alla region in Balqa Governorate last February.

The project aims at supporting local communities and empowering young people in the governorates to gain experience and improve their communities, as well as to motivate other companies to invest in the governorates and optimise the offered benefits, in addition to spreading awareness among local communities regarding customer service techniques and principles.
