Four arrested over alleged JD2m theft from company in Amman - Police

The Jordan Times

AMMAN – Police on Saturday announced the arrest of four men in connection with the alleged cash robbery from a safe in one of the companies in Amman last week.

The four are part of a group of men who managed to rob an amount of cash from the company on June 25, Police Spokesperson Lt. Col. Amer Sartawi said.

“A special investigation team was tasked with investigating the robbery and managed to identify some of the suspects based on evidence left at the robbery scene,” Sartawi told The Jordan Times.

The police official said investigators are trying to locate other suspects who were allegedly involved in the theft.

“We recovered part of the stolen cash,” the police official said.

The police official did not disclose the amount of the stolen cash or the number of remaining suspects who are at large.

Investigations are ongoing in the case, according to a statement by the Public Security Directorate.

Multiple local and regional media outlets last week stated that the alleged robbed company belonged to a well-known Jordanian businessman.

The media outlets reported that a large amount of cash, estimated to be JD2 million and some jewellery were robbed from the safe that belonged to the businessman.
