AMMAN — Senate President Faisal Al Fayez on Monday met ambassadors Hilal Al Maamari of Oman and Shimazaki Kaoru of Japan, in two separate meetings.

During his meeting with the Omani envoy, Fayez lauded the “distinguished” Jordanian-Omani ties based on mutual respect, highlighting Oman’s supportive stances for Jordan.

Maamari expressed appreciation of Amman’s role in supporting fair Arab issues, commending His majesty King Abdulla’s efforts towards achieving regional security and stability, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Fayez and Kaoru reviewed means of advancing Jordanian-Japanese partnerships and cooperation in various fields, notably trade and economy, for the best interests of the two nations.

Expressing appreciation of Japan’s support for Jordan, Fayez called for increasing the Japanese investments in Jordan and enhancing anti-coronavirus cooperation.

He pointed out that Jordan is experiencing tremendous economic challenges due to the impacts of the pandemic and regional conflicts, highlighting the Kingdom’s efforts towards maintaining its security and stability.

Talks also went over regional issues and means of ending crises, notably the Palestinian issue, with Fayez underlining the Kingdom’s fixed stance, including Palestinians right to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, stressing that the two-state solution and granting the Palestinians their rights is the way to end the Arab-Israeli conflict, Petra added.

The Japanese diplomat reiterated the deep-rooted Jordanian-Japanese ties, stressing the two sides’ keenness on building upon bilateral ties in all fields.
