AMMAN — A total of 25,000 tonnes of bread were produced in the Kingdom on Tuesday and demand for the vital commodity is expected to decline as of Wednesday, according to Minister of State for Media Affairs Amjad Adaileh.

During a press briefing broadcast live from the National Centre for Security and Crisis Management and streamed on Facebook, Adaileh said that a decision regarding the lifting of the nationwide curfew, which came into force in the wake of the rapid spread of the coronavirus, hinges on the public’s commitment to government regulations.

The government is currently reviewing mechanisms to distribute essential commodities to the public, he noted.

The minister said that technical teams are studying ways to deliver the salaries of private sector employees, while the government is discussing solutions to resuming work in the agricultural sector.

Adaileh also refuted claims that the Education Ministry has cancelled the second semester of the scholastic year.
