The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi hinted that he intends to resign once the military completes its investigations into the events of Oct. 7, 2023.
“At the end of the investigations, we will also make personal decisions and commanders will exercise responsibility, from me down. I have no intention of passing over personal decisions when the picture becomes clearer to us,” Halevi wrote in a letter to troops.
In the letter, Halevi defends himself from criticism aimed at his decision to make senior appointments in the IOF after his role in the security failures of the massive Hamas attack.
“Appointing officers to positions is not a privilege, but a command and operational duty. The IDF cannot afford to freeze,” Halevi said, cited by “The Times of Israel”.
