On Saturday, Dr. Mohammad Momani, Minister of Government Communications and Government spokesperson, met with international media representatives at the Ministry of Government Communications, with the presence of Secretary-General Dr. Zaid Al-Nawaiseh.

 

The meeting is part of the ministry's ongoing efforts to enhance media communication and improve the national media scene by addressing the challenges and concerns regarding the work of international media in Jordan.

 

Jordan’s Media Openness

 

During the meeting, Dr. Momani emphasized Jordan’s openness to all forms of media, stressing its vital role in disseminating knowledge and informing public opinion. He also highlighted Jordan's balanced and moderate positions on regional and Arab issues, positioning the country as a crucial part of the national security equation.

 

Jordan’s Support for Gaza

 

Dr. Momani reiterated Jordan's strong stance on the immediate cessation of Israeli aggression against Gaza, welcoming the recent ceasefire agreement. He also mentioned ongoing efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to the region, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II. The largest aid convoy to Gaza, consisting of 120 trucks with food, medical, and relief supplies, was dispatched last week, marking the 140th such convoy since the start of the aggression.

 

Palestinian Cause a Jordanian Priority

 

He reaffirmed Jordan’s commitment to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, seeing this as a key Jordanian national interest to ensure Palestinian stability and security.

 

Syrian Crisis and Refugee Issue

 

Regarding the Syrian crisis, Dr. Momani emphasized Jordan's support for Syria’s efforts to regain its stability and security. He highlighted ongoing coordination with the new Syrian administration on refugee issues and border security, noting that the ultimate solution lies in creating favorable conditions for the voluntary return of refugees to their homeland.

 

Enhancing Media Transparency

 

International media representatives praised Jordan’s media openness and the importance of empowering spokespersons in government ministries to facilitate the flow of information to the public. They also commended the regular meetings hosted by the ministry, which foster international media cooperation.
