King Abdullah II: The King may worry, but fears nothing with Jordanians behind him

His Majesty King Abdullah II said on Sunday that while he may at times feel concern for his nation, he fears only God, emphasizing his trust in the Jordanian people as his greatest source of strength.
Addressing the nation through the Speech from the Throne at the opening of the second ordinary session of the 20th Parliament, King Abdullah said: “Some of you may wonder: How does the King feel? Is the King ever concerned? Yes, the King may feel concern, but he fears only God. He fears nothing else, for he has the unconditional support and strength of Jordanians. This, praise be to God, is the most valuable asset a leader can have.”
The King described Jordanians as “the guardians of their homeland,” praising their compassion, resilience, and commitment to helping others. “Jordanians open their doors to shelter the weak and answer the call of those in need. They learn to teach others, sow to nourish, and excel to raise our standing high among other nations,” he said.
King Abdullah’s remarks came as part of a wider address highlighting Jordan’s resilience in the face of regional turmoil, its ongoing reforms, and its steadfast support for Gaza and Jerusalem. But his personal words about concern and faith struck a particularly human note, underscoring his closeness to the Jordanian people and his confidence in their unity and resolve.
