AMMAN — Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti on Sunday received Chief of Staff of the Japan Self-Defence Forces Gen. Hiroaki Uchikura at the General Command.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed prospects for military cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries, particularly in training and the exchange of expertise, as well as several regional and international issues of mutual interest, according to an army statement.
Huneiti and the visiting delegation were briefed on the operational and humanitarian efforts carried out by the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF), including Jordan’s continued delivery of relief, medical and food aid to Gaza, as well as the army’s role in supporting regional security.
The briefings also highlighted existing training cooperation programmes between the two armies and ways to further develop them through joint exercises and specialised courses to enhance operational readiness and expand knowledge exchange.
Huneiti stressed the depth of Jordan-Japan relations, noting that the defence partnership serves as a model for developing joint capabilities and supporting international efforts to promote security and stability.
For his part, Uchikura expressed appreciation for JAF’s role in supporting regional security and providing humanitarian assistance, affirming Japan’s commitment to enhancing military cooperation, particularly in training and expertise exchange.
