“Israeli” military launches wave of airstrikes on Lebanon

The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) said Monday night it struck “terror targets” in Lebanon, without providing further details.

The announcement comes after a Hezbollah attack earlier in the day targeting an “Israeli” military position on the “Israel”-Lebanon border, the group's first since the truce took effect on Wednesday, November 27.

The strikes reportedly hit areas between the villages of Houmin al-Fawqa and Deir al-Zahrani near the Litani River in southern Lebanon – per Roya’s correspondent.

Additional airstrikes targeted the al-Brij area in Iqlim al-Tuffah, Shabil in al-Rayhan, and regions between Wadi Azza and Houmin al-Fawqa. Other areas struck include locations between Loueizeh, Safi, and Mlaih.

Earlier, “Israel's” public broadcaster Kan reported that Defense Minister Israel Katz had approved strikes against Hezbollah, Tel Aviv has also informed Washington of its plans to carry out the strikes in response to Hezbollah's recent attack.

The “Israeli” security echelon believes failure to respond against Hezbollah could embolden the Lebanese group and jeopardize plans for long-term ceasefire.

Earlier today, Hezbollah said Monday it fired a warning strike in response to repeated “Israeli” violations of the ceasefire agreement that came into effect last Wednesday.

“The strike targeting the Roueisat Al-Alam military site in the occupied Lebanese hills of Kfar Shuba,” the statement by the Lebanese group said.

It added that the “Israeli” violations of the ceasefire included “gunfire on civilians, airstrikes across various parts of Lebanon leading to civilian casualties and injuries, and continuous breaches of Lebanese airspace by Israeli aircraft reaching the capital, Beirut” which prompted this action.

“Despite multiple appeals to relevant authorities to halt these aggressions, no resolution was achieved.”

"The warning has been delivered,” Hezbollah’s statement concluded.
