AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday received Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, with whom he discussed Jordanian-Qatari relations and means to develop them to serve mutual interests and Arab causes.

During the meeting held at Al Husseiniya Palace, His Majesty urged unifying stands on regional issues and exerting more efforts towards institutionalising pan-Arab action, according to a Royal Court statement.

The Arab summit, which the Kingdom will host later this month, was also on the meeting’s agenda, with King Abdullah emphasising that holding it under the current regional circumstances provides an opportunity to strengthen Arab unity and agree on common visions to overcome regional crises.

Sheikh Mohammed conveyed Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani’s greetings to King Abdullah, and voiced the emir’s keenness to develop bilateral relations at all levels.

Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, King’s Office Director Jafar Hassan and Qatari Ambassador Bandar Al Attiyah attended the meeting.

Also on Wednesday, Safadi met with his Qatari counterpart over the latest developments in the Palestinian issue, the Syrian crisis and war against terrorism, as well as other regional issues, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Both sides agreed to sustain coordination and consultation between Jordan and Qatar, on the one hand, and with other countries, on the other, to contribute to ending regional crises and achieving security and stability.

They also went over the Kingdom’s preparations to host the Arab summit, highlighting its importance as a venue for examining all challenges facing the Arab nation and reaching solutions to them, Petra added.
