AMMAN — A march was held on Friday after prayers nears the Husseini Mosque in downtown Amman in support to His Majesty King Abdullah’s stances towards Jerusalem and the Palestinian issue.

The demonstration, titled: “Friday of anger against the settlement of the Palestinian issue”, was organised by the National Loyalty Party.

During the demonstration, participants raised banners condemning the so-called “deal of the century” and showing support for the King's positions on Jerusalem, the resettlement of Palestinian refugees and Jordan as an alternate homeland for Palestinians, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Participants called on all political, partisan, popular, youth, professional associations and university movements to organise a march and more events to highlight the Kingdom’s unaltered stances on the Palestinian issue, according to Petra.

Scores of citizens also gathered near Parliament on Friday to show their support for King Abdullah’s positions in defending Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites, according to Petra.

During a visit to the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) General Command in March, King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the JAF, reaffirmed that “the future of Jerusalem and Palestine is a red line for Jordan”.

Also in March, His Majesty, during a visit to Zarqa to check on the governorate and the needs of its residents, said,“My position on Jerusalem is unwavering”.

“To me, Jerusalem is a red line, and all my people are with me,” the King said.

The Monarch also stressed that any talk about an “alternative homeland” for Palestinians in Jordan is rejected.
