AMMAN — In the presence of HRH Princess Basma Bint Talal, Chairperson of the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD), the fund on Monday signed cooperation agreements with the Irbid Governorate Council and the Vocational Training Corporation (VTC) to strengthen JOHUD centres' developmental role in Irbid for 2025.

The agreements were signed by Director of Princess Basma Development Centres in Irbid Fahmiyah Azzam, Chairman of the Irbid Governorate Council Khaldoun Bani Hani and Director General of the VTC Ahmed Gharaibeh.

The agreement with the Irbid Governorate Council would provide 45 university scholarships for students from Al Baraha and Al Sareeh and fund 15 income-generating projects for underprivileged families in Al Baraha, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The agreement with the VTC aims to establish a training centre at the Princess Basma Development Center in Mansoura, offering vocational skills to youth in the Wasatiyah and Bani Kinanah districts.

Princess Basma stressed the importance of the cooperation in addressing poverty and unemployment, highlighting the need to equip Jordanian youth with training to thrive in both local and international labour markets.

She commended the partnerships for their contribution to the Kingdom’s development, modernisation and reform efforts, praising the role of these institutions in supporting Jordan’s strategic goals.

The signing ceremony was attended by Irbid Governor Radwan Otoum and Yarmouk University President Islam Massad.
