'Israel' has sharply criticized the Spanish Prime Minister following widespread pro-Palestinian protests in Madrid that forced the cancellation of the final stage of the Vuelta a España cycling race, which featured the Israel-Premier Tech team.

 

In a statement, 'Israeli' officials described the Spanish leader as “a disgrace” in response to the government’s perceived support of the demonstrations that disrupted the race.

 

The protests, which included hundreds of demonstrators waving Palestinian flags and chanting slogans against 'Israel', overwhelmed barriers along Gran Vía, one of Madrid’s main avenues, and prompted authorities to deploy tear gas and police charges. The disruption occurred before the cyclists were scheduled to arrive, forcing organizers to abandon the stage.

 

The Israel-Premier Tech team had faced scrutiny and interruptions throughout the three-week event due to its national affiliation amid international outrage over the conflict in Gaza.
