AMMAN — Prime Minister Jafar Hassan on Monday reiterated the government's commitment to enhancing cooperation with the private sector and all stakeholders involved in Jordan’s medical tourism sector, capitalising on the Kingdom’s "distinguished" global reputation for healthcare services.

 

In a follow-up meeting to last week's discussions with heads of health unions, Hassan underscored the need to streamline procedures for international patients seeking medical treatment and recovery in the Kingdom, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. 

 

The prime minister also stressed the importance of leveraging Jordanian embassies abroad to support the private medical sector in promoting its "advancements, unique offerings, and highly skilled workforce."

 

Talks during the meeting also addressed the steps required to activate the medical tourism sector and ease the process for patients seeking treatment in Jordan. 

 

Discussions went over avenues for cooperation between the government and private sector to promote Jordan’s healthcare services in untapped markets and highlight the sector’s competitive advantages.

 

The meeting brought together Minister of State for Economic Affairs Muhannad Shehadeh, Interior Minister Mazen Faraya, Jordan Tourism Board Managing Director Abdelrazzaq Arabiyat, Jordan Medical Association President Ziad Zu'bi, Global Healthcare Travel Council President Fawzi Hammouri, and Private Hospitals Association President Nael Masalha.
