The Jordan Times

AMMAN — Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Ahmad Hanandeh on Sunday said that Jordan’s infrastructure is well-equipped to support the delivery of digital services and developments.

Speaking at the weekly Government Communication Forum, Hanandeh said, “Despite the Kingdom’s limited financial resources, it has a strong human capital, which has enabled us to keep up with today’s advancements.”

The forum which took place at the headquarters of the Government Communication Ministry, also included the participation of Government Communication Minister Muhannad Mubaidin.

The forum also reviewed the 2021 strategy launched by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, which outlines a strategic framework for Jordan’s digital transformation, relying on a set of fundamental procedures and capabilities to achieve the government’s vision.

Hanandeh highlighted that the ministry is focused on developing digital capabilities, infrastructure, services, legislation, data, and government resources and supporting systems.

“The development of the country’s infrastructure is an ongoing project which will not stop,” he added.

Addressing current challenges, Hanandeh noted that Jordan does not face an educational gap but rather a skills gap, adding that “Skills complement education and are crucial in applying knowledge practically…therefore they are as important as education.”

He further highlighted that the ministry has signed contracts with 12 Jordanian universities, providing training for students and discussed various programmes aimed at youth employment and training.
