A high-level regional security meeting began on Sunday in Jordan's capital, Amman, bringing together top officials from Türkiye, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, and Syria.
The summit includes the five nations' foreign and defense ministers, intelligence chiefs, and senior military leaders.
The discussions are set to focus on pressing security challenges in the region, including counterterrorism efforts and strategies to combat cross-border drug and arms trafficking. Additionally, participants will explore avenues for strengthening regional stability and supporting Syria’s territorial integrity and national unity.
The gathering underscores ongoing efforts to coordinate policies among neighboring countries in the face of evolving security threats. Observers anticipate that the summit’s outcomes could have significant implications for the political and security landscape of the region.
Later in the evening, foreign ministers from the five participating nations are scheduled to hold a joint press conference to discuss the key takeaways from the summit.
This latest engagement follows a series of similar meetings held earlier this year. Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Defense Minister Yaşar Güler, and Intelligence Chief İbrahim Kalın previously convened with their Syrian counterparts on Jan. 15 in Ankara, their Jordanian counterparts on Jan. 6 in Ankara, and their Iraqi counterparts on March 14 in Baghdad.
These meetings form part of a broader effort to enhance cooperation and seek viable solutions to shared regional challenges.
