Netanyahu, Gallant arrest warrants open can of worms for 'Israel'

Tel Aviv is grappling with a difficult decision on whether to appeal the recent arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for "Israeli" Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

According to "Israeli" newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, "Israel" is significantly hesitant about how to proceed, with some voices in the government leaning towards waiting for the Biden administration’s position on the matter.

This uncertainty follows a landmark decision by the ICC in The Hague, which on Thursday issued international arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity related to "Israel’s" ongoing military actions in Gaza.

The court’s ruling is the latest in a series of high-profile legal challenges faced by "Israeli" leaders regarding their actions in the aggression on Gaza.

"Israel’s" reluctance to immediately respond stems from fears that the ICC could expand its investigation to include "Israeli" military officers and soldiers implicated in the use of starvation tactics and other war crimes during the Gaza operation.

While Netanyahu can technically visit the US, which is not a party to the ICC, the "Israeli" leadership is bracing for logistical challenges. Some countries may deny permission for his plane to transit through their airspace, complicating his international travel.

Furthermore, the customary procedure at the UN may prevent Netanyahu from attending significant events, such as the opening of the UN General Assembly, under current circumstances.
