Syrian transitional president Ahmed al-Sharaa arrived in Cairo on Tuesday to participate in the emergency Arab summit, which will discuss an alternative proposal to US President Donald Trump’s plan for Gaza, according to Syria’s state news agency (SANA).
SANA reported in a statement: “The President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Mr. Ahmed Sharaa, arrives in Cairo to attend the extraordinary Arab summit discussing developments in the Palestinian cause.”
The emergency summit is being held amid rapid developments regarding the Palestinian issue, as Arab nations seek to form a unified stance on the US proposal for Gaza, which has sparked widespread debate.
Sharaa's participation comes as Syria undergoes a transitional phase following recent political changes in the country.
